This post is a follow up to my previous How To Add Google Friend Connect To Your Blog, WordPress, BlogSpot, Web Site.  If you are an Etsy, ArtFire… artisan, this is a helpful beginner tutorial to promote your shop.

As I was researching how to post Google Friend Connect to Facebook, turns out  Google Friend Connect does not work with Facebook, at least not yet.  But good news is there is a Facebook alternative – Networked Blogs.  In this post I will explain how to add it to your FB profile and how to add some custom html bling.  : )

Networked Blogs allows you to network your blog and at the same time follow recent posts from your favorites without ever leaving FB.  To add it, first, you will need to register your blog here: Networked Blogs.

Once your blog is registered, you should land on your blog’s profile page.  Underneath the image, click on Widget link.  Copy and hold on to the code provided in step 1.

Second, go to Profile HTML, click on Go to Application and allow access.  Make sure you are in the Profile HTML -> Profile Box tab, now remove all the code in that box and add your Blog’s widget code previously copied.

Preview, Submit, and Add to Profile.  In the pop up window select where to place the widget.  Here, I am adding it to the ‘Wall and Info Tab’, click add.  Now go to your profile and click on Keep button.  That’s it!  You’ve  added a Networked Blogs widget to your Facebook profile.

Now, to add custom html, first, we will need some code.  Let’s add two links. One is a plain text link and second a Twitter button.

Here is code of a plain link I’d like to add:

<a href=”http://Floreti.ArtFire.com”>ArtFire </a><br>

a href – is the address
</a> – closes the link code, and right before it you can enter text how you would like your link to appear on the page.
<br> – creates a line break, two break tags create space between lines.

To add twitter button, sign in to your twitter.com account.  Scroll down all the way to the bottom and look for Goodies!  Select Buttons, pick the one you like best, click on it, and you will see a pop up box with highlighted code. Copy and hold on to it.

Next, go back to Profile HTML click on the Profile Box -> Profile Box tab.

Remove default code and paste your button code and link code.   Anything you write outside of the link tags will appear as regular text.  Preview, Submit, and Add to Profile.  Confirm Add.   Now you should see a Profile Box with your twitter button and text link!

On my page I used custom html code to organize and present links in a user friendly format.   You will see text links, custom buttons,  and Networked Blogs  separated in three different html boxes – Profile HTML, Profile Box, and My HTML (which is very similar application to the previous two.)

I hope after reading this post you will be inspired and find it easy to add links and buttons on your blog or Facebook page.

I welcome your feedback and comments about this post.

Thank you!
